Council Awards Three Companies To Carry Out Highway Works And Traffic Signals

Lincolnshire County Council has announced the three companies chosen to design and carry out highway works, and run traffic signals for the next five years.

It is the local authority's intention to award the role of repair, maintenance and improvement of the highway network to May Gurney. This replaces current contractors Ringway Infrastructure Services (RIS).

The Professional Services contract, for providing the design support and technical advice to the county council's Technical Services Partnership, will be awarded to Mouchel, replacing existing providers Jacobs.

The Traffic Signals contract has been retained by Peek Traffic, who work on new signal installations and the maintenance and repair of existing signals.

Paul Coathup, Assistant Director for Highways and Traffic, said: "Lincolnshire County Council have been pleased to be associated with our present partners, Jacobs and RIS, together with whom we have provided excellent highway services for many years.

"Notwithstanding, we are now looking forwards to establishing an exciting new alliance with Mouchel, May Gurney and Peek to take the service forward over the forthcoming years.

"Following a comprehensive and rigorous tendering process involving quality and cost evaluations, we fully expect not only to provide an improved service, but also make significant money-saving efficiencies in their delivery.

"These are five-year contracts with the potential for a further extension, dependant on performance."
