Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking to regenerate Telford Ice Rink as part of the future plans for Southwater within Telford Town Centre.
The Council is inviting operators with a successful track record of managing and improving ice rinks to submit proposals that will deliver a multi million pound investment into Telford's Ice Rink.
The opportunity for investors is significant, the Ice Rink with other leisure uses together with bars, restaurants, high quality public areas, shops, homes, hotels and offices, is a major factor in the potential for this investment.
Interested parties will be required to identify how they would meet the Council's requirements for investment into the Ice Rink and enhance facilities for all customers including the successful clubs based at the Ice Rink.
Tender responses for the future management of the Ice Rink will be presented to the Council in the Autumn.
The operator would be required to renovate the rink and its facilities and create a new frontage which would face onto the new Main Street - one of the centrepieces of the £250 million Southwater development.
Telford Ice Rink forms a key part of the borough's leisure facilities and is integral to the plans for the regeneration of the Southwater area to create a leisure hub and family entertainment.
Councillor Stephen Bentley, Cabinet Member for Active Lifestyles said: "Telford Ice Rink is a great facility for the town that is very well used however it's in need of some major investment.
"By working with specialist operators who can bring investment and expertise, we can ensure that the facilities at Telford Ice Rink are improved for residents and visitors now and in the future.
"The Ice Rink will form an integral part of the strong mix of leisure attractions, which combined with new cultural facilities in the heart of the town centre, will make Telford a real draw and destination for people locally and regionally.
"Inviting tenders from potential operators is the next stage in this process, but I must stress that no decisions have yet been made."
