Long-Serving Staff Welcome New Health Centre To Conisbrough

Construction News Image
Two long-serving employees at Conisbrough Medical Practice helped clear the way for their new health centre, built by Morgan Sindall for NHS Doncaster.

Joanne Globe and Maria Richards donned health and safety gear and joined construction staff on site to demolish their old health centre.

Morgan Sindall is currently building a new £5.9 million health centre to replace the old facility in Gardens Lane in Conisbrough, Doncaster.

The firm is creating the new building for Doncaster Community Solutions – a public private partnership between Community Solutions for Primary Care, NHS Doncaster, Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and Community Health Partnerships.

Both Joanne and Maria started working as administrators at the original practice over 25 years ago and are now looking forward to seeing the new and improved health centre.

"I am looking forward to seeing a higher level of care for patients in the new building," said Maria, Office Manager. "I remember when the old practice opened and it was a new purpose built building with two practices under one roof."

The new two-storey health centre will feature two GP practices, facilities for district nursing, ambulance services, group work rooms, a pharmacy and minor operations unit.

The practice is currently based in temporary accommodation in Olds Lane while construction work on the new facility continues.

The project is scheduled for completion in autumn 2011.
