Leadbitter Group has completed 15 new affordable homes on behalf of Radian.
This was the second project that Leadbitter has successfully completed for Radian, which manages more than 17,000 homes in the south.
Working closely with the housing provider, Leadbitter undertook a comprehensive community liaison programme to ensure buy-in to the project - which involved the demolition of an existing sheltered housing scheme and its replacement with nine flats and six town houses. As the scheme's closest neighbours, residents of Lyndwood Drive in Old Windsor were the first people invited to see the finished £1.5 million project.
John Lee, Assistant Clerk, Old Windsor Parish Council said: "The combination of a very good builder, great communication with the housing authority and the goodwill of existing residents meant that this project was completed without any tears. Radian kept everyone up to date on developments and invited the existing residents’ input on things so we always felt part of the team."
The development of affordable homes comprises both one- and two-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom town houses. The ground floor apartments all have private gardens, as do the town houses, which also include two parking spaces. Improvements to both access to and parking within the cul-de-sac were also included in the project.
David Cook, Regional Director of Leadbitter's Southern Construction and Housing division, said: "It's great to see this project come to a successful conclusion and to have added much-needed affordable housing to existing stock in Old Windsor. The scheme is a true demonstration of what can be achieved through an ongoing and open dialogue between all parties involved in and impacted by a construction programme.
"This is the second project we’ve delivered in collaboration with the Radian, and I hope it will prove to be as welcomed by its new residents as the first, Shaw Court."
