Mansell has won a £10.9 million contract to complete the final phase of redevelopment at Central Sussex College’s Sixth Form Haywards Heath campus, which will complete the College’s £30 million transformation of the site.
This final phase is being solely funded by Central Sussex College, and represents a significant and long-term investment in the young people of Mid Sussex by the College.
Work started on site at the end of July, and will see the addition of state-of-the-art new facilities including: science laboratories; classrooms; a music suite; learning resource and IT centre; four court sports hall; plus a new reception and food court area. Work is expected to be completed in January 2013.
College Principal, Dr Russell Strutt said: "The redevelopment of the Haywards Heath campus has been a key priority for Central Sussex College, since it was created in 2005. Through the first two phases, completed in 2008, we have been able to improve the student experience, broaden the curriculum on offer and increase capacity."
Vice Principal of the Haywards Heath campus, Richard Hailstone added: "We are delighted with the progress which has been made over the summer, and that the demolition stage is due to be completed before the end of the year. Everyone has worked extremely hard to ensure that the project remains on-schedule, and we are all very much looking forward to the next exciting stage, when the new buildings begin to take shape."
