Morgan Sindall Completes £8.4m Hertfordshire Primary School

Morgan Sindall marked the completion of work on a £8.4 million scheme to redevelop Highwood Primary School in Bushey at a special celebratory ceremony held by the school.

The event marked the official handover of the school. It was attended by guests including GB paralympian Derek Derenalagi who cut the ribbon to officially mark the school's opening.

The new school, which has been built on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, was part of the Government’s Primary Capital Programme to replace schools in poor condition. The project has encompassed the demolition of the old primary school and the construction of a new state-of-the-art 2,600m² school building.

The project is set to achieve a BREEAM rating of Very Good through the responsible sourcing of materials, recycling and using local suppliers wherever possible.

Terri Douris, Hertfordshire's Deputy Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "As an authority, we are delighted that we have been able to rebuild this school, which was in a very poor condition. I am sure that this will be a superb environment in which children will learn and develop, now and for many years to come."

Charlie Norris, construction Director for Morgan Sindall said: "We are delighted to be celebrating the handover of this development to the school with this special ceremony. We have thoroughly enjoyed working closely with the school and Hertfordshire County Council to create this state-of-the-art building."
