York House School in Hertfordshire is set in magnificent surroundings with plenty of open space and superb facilities, both academically and on the sporting front.
They believe every child possesses many talents and with a long tradition of academic excellence and a broad-based curriculum, York House pride themselves on giving children an education that will pave the way to a successful future.
Over three years ago, Playrite's Steve Byrnes first spoke to York House School about their project to build a multi use games area to enhance their sports facilities. The school had many hurdles to face such as planning permission, issues regarding the location of the MUGA as well as generating funding. Throughout this Playrite and installer Playturf were always on hand to offer their expert support and guidance which included presenting to the PTA, teachers and fundraisers to explain the difference a MUGA would make to their school and show them similar local projects. Playrite also produced several CAD drawings to help the school visualise what the different line markings would look like and 10 months ago the school finally raised the funding to complete the project.
They selected Playrite’s Matchplay 2, an excellent choice for multi use as it is hardwearing, durable and suitable to many different sports such as tennis, netball, hockey, football and basketball. With inlaid lines included into the design, maintenance requirements will be reduced and Matchpad, Playrite’s shock absorbing underlay was also installed.
The completed project was opened by Graham Taylor, ex England and Watford manager who visited the site and enjoyed playing on the new synthetic surface. Mr Peter MacDougall, Headmaster at York House commented how now thanks to Playrite and Playturf: "We have a fantastic facility and it is great to see the children enjoying it. Both Playturf and Playrite did a great job."
Playturf's Adrian Sawyer and Playrite's Steve Byrnes were also at the grand opening, and Adrian describes how the two companies work so well together: "For the last 2 years now we’ve been working with Playrite and in that time our relationship has gone from strength to strength. Their extensive product range has helped to enhance our offerings and we are able to work on different projects that we haven’t tackled before. Because they manufacture such a wide range of different surfaces, we can use them as the single source for all products such as multi use games carpet, shockpads, play surfaces and adhesives."
