Householders are moving in to their new homes in Goole following a £4 million investment at Mulberry Gardens.
The 59 new homes in Mulberry Gardens are being built in a range of styles, 19 of which are owned by Your Housing Group and managed locally by Headrow Ltd. The remaining 40 properties are for sale privately through the developer Peter Ward Homes.
Jodie Cook in her new home with Paul Common and Steve O’Connor - Directors of Your Housing and Pat Ritchie, Chief Executive of the Homes and Communities AgencyFollowing an investment of £4 million from the Homes and Communities Agency, the area has been regenerated, including the demolition of an old warehouse and houses that were no longer suitable in a partnership between Headrow, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and developer Peter Ward Homes.
The homes have been built to a high standard and, and in accordance with Environment Agency guidelines, are higher than road level and feature raised patio areas. All residents have been provided with floodgates for front and rear doors to provide additional protection.
To make the homes as energy efficient as possible, they all include heat recovery systems which recondition steam from the bathroom and kitchen and pump it into the living room and bedrooms as warm air.
Pat Ritchie, Chief Executive of the Homes and Communities Agency, said: "This development shows what can be achieved through partnership working. Our investment of £4m has meant that East Riding have been able to completely transform these two streets. Peter Ward Homes and Your Housing Group have done a great job in creating a community where people will not only want to live but will also be able to afford to. The investment has not only helped meet the aspirations of local people but it is great that the new homes have safeguarded local jobs."
