Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions has completed the design and build of a new two storey sixth form centre at Elthorne Park High School in the London Borough of Ealing.
Completion of the building creates one of the first practical interpretations of the requirements laid down in the James Review.
Elliott Off-Site was commissioned by Ealing Council. The company utilised its new Progression modular system on the project, which was developed in conjunction with E C Harris, and allowed the school to meet the challenges set by the James Report as well as complying with the requirements of the BSF programme.
Progression from Elliott Off-Site delivers cost savings through standardisation, whilst providing sufficient flexibility to create distinct, appealing buildings.
At Elthorne Park School, the innovative new off-site modular system incorporated a concrete floor at both levels and included a full steel frame and timber infill wall panels. This ensures that the new facility has the look and feel of a traditionally constructed building, whilst retaining all the benefits of an off-site method of construction.
Working to an 18-week on-site construction programme, Elliott was able to ensure that the new sixth form centre could be occupied in time for the new September school term.
Elliott completed the modular units off-site in a factory controlled environment before delivering them to site with all frame, walls, floors, internal partitions and first fix M&E completed and ready for site installation.
The new sixth form centre at Elthorne Park High School comprises three classrooms and a study room on the ground floor and two further classrooms on the first floor, with a large open plan lecture study room. A range of ancillary facilities are provided throughout, including toilets, offices and circulation space.
External facades include an attractive ‘sun yellow’ Trespa panelling with white Sto render and solar shading to the grey aluminium windows and doors. The entrance into the lobby area features dark grey brickwork with large vertical signage for the building.
Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions is able to act as concept designer and Principal Contractor to ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation. The company has over 45 years of delivering innovative off-site design and build solutions and is able to help clients achieve the highest environmental ratings and carbon neutrality.
