Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES) has been awarded the M&E services contracts by Morgan Sindall for two Building Schools for the Future (BSF) projects in the City of Hull, Northcott Special Education Needs (SEN) School and Bridgeview and Whitehouse School in the City of Hull.
Northcott SEN School is a 115-pupil capacity day school for young people aged between five and 16 years. The school also provides an outreach programme to other primary and secondary schools in Hull. The £2.8m facility provides a learning environment for pupils with a diverse range of additional needs and the project includes a new sports facility, youth centre and refurbishment works.
The new Bridgeview and Whitehouse schools will be co-located on the Bethune site in West Hull and will meet the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD). The £5.7m development will have a maximum capacity of 60 pupils and contain a multi-use games area, football pitch, performance hall and external play spaces.
BBES will design, supply and install all mechanical and electrical services for both schools, including energy efficient controls and CHP system. Both projects will provide work to local subcontractors and suppliers as well as hiring a local labour force.
Managing Director of BBES, Phil McGuire said: "We are delighted to have won further work with Morgan Sindall on two Hull BSF school projects. This project continues our excellent working relationship with one of our key customers and builds on our experience in the education sector."
