Minister Opens New Underpass At Oakgrove Village

MP Mark Lancaster has officially opened a new underpass linking Oakgrove Secondary School to the Oakgrove Village community.

Providing direct access underneath Brickhill Street in Middleton, the underpass has been designed for use by both pedestrians and cyclists who previously struggled to cross the busy road.

As part of developer Crest Nicholson's strategy to implement a robust infrastructure surrounding their Oakgrove Village development, the underpass will benefit local school children as well as the wider community. With an increasing number of local people accessing Oakgrove Village as a result of its onsite Waitrose and burgeoning community, local shoppers and residents will be able to quickly and easily traverse Brickhill Street.

Throughout the planning process, the underpass has been a fundamental feature of the development at Oakgrove Village. Previously a brownfield site, Crest Nicholson is committed to providing not only a development of new homes, but also the supporting infrastructure.

Mr Lancaster MP commented: "We knew that Oakgrove Village would be a great addition to the local community from the outset, especially with its great mix of housing.

"As such, I am delighted to officially open this new underpass, which is a valuable addition to the local infrastructure and will help enable quick and easy crossing of the busy road for residents and local children as they travel from Oakgrove Village to the secondary school."
