Soft Surfaces Ltd were asked by a school in Wigan to install a brand new surface for their playground.
The school's existing play area was just a simple tarmac surface with no graphics or games markings for the children to play on. As well as not being much fun, the hard tarmac surface was relatively unsafe as it wouldn't absorb much impact from kids tripping or falling over, this would have increased the likelihood of injuries. The playground was in need of a big improvement, so Soft Surfaces Ltd were brought in to construct a fun and educational new facility for the school. First, a sub base was installed to even out the existing playground before the new impact absorbing surface was put in place. Next the safe Wetpour surface base and graphics were applied to the play area; the graphic designs included road markings, hopscotch squares and a number of brightly coloured shapes. Finally, a wearing course was applied to the impact absorbing Wetpour surface to give it an even and professional looking finish which the school are very proud of. The finished product is a top quality safe playground surface which is fun and educational for the children at the school, as well as a drastic improvement from the existing tarmac surface.
