Lagan Construction Group has been awarded a contract to build the access road at Capitol Park in Goole.
The development is expected to create up to 4,000 new jobs in East Yorkshire.
Lagan Construction Group will build 1 km of road to connect Junction 36 of the M62 to Andersen Road just north of Goole docks to unlock 40 hectares of land for development that will allow the creation of new jobs. The contract, which is part of over £13 million investment in Capitol Park, will take 16 months to complete, has been supported by £8,319,490 million of European Regional Development Funding.
Rob Pearson, Head of Area at the Homes and Communities Agency said: "The letting of this contract continues the creation of long term employment in Goole by providing access to both the port and the motorway network. This investment from the HCA and the ERDF to create jobs complements our investment in new homes across Goole and the surrounding areas."
The road and other infrastructure work will allow the construction of an extra 116,000 square metres of employment floorspace and create a direct connection between Capitol Park and the docks to complement the existing links to the motorway network.
