Obviously as a company who specialises in wet pour safety surfacing this is of great concern to ourselves and is something which we felt would require further investigation.
As an industry we felt that more companies should be researching into ways in which people can still benefit from safety surface installation whilst improving the overall product quality in order to ensure that slip resistance guidelines were met.

We have been in contact with a leading expert who has tested slip resistance of a whole range of surfaces across the whole of the UK as well as internationally throughout the world.

It appears to us presently that rather than the industry looking into new products, with increased quality and added safety many other companies are simply seeking cheaper alternatives without wanting a better product.
For us the industry seems to be going backwards rather than forwards in terms of quality of product and this is something we hope to change. We are extremely excited to announce that we have submitted a range of newly developed products for testing with our expert and are awaiting independent results.
Our products will go through the pendulum test; this method of testing is based on swinging an imitation heel which then sweeps over a set area of flooring in a controlled manner.
The slipperiness of the flooring has a direct and measureable effect on the pendulum test value (ptv) which is then given. Research into this test has confirmed it to be both reliable and accurate so much so that HSE has adopted this as their standard test method for assessing floor slipperiness in both dry and contaminated conditions.
We will be keeping all of our customers up to date with our testing, results and ultimately how we are striving to bring a higher quality of safety surfacing with added slip resistance back to the market in order to meet customer demand.
