Alliance Formed Between Aker Solutions And Fjords Processing

Aker Solutions and Fjords Processing have today formed a partnership to develop both their respective technologies for the subsea, topside oil and gas industry.

The alliance aims to develop technology and capabilities for advanced, cost-effective wellstream separation and treatment solutions.

The move, named the Wellsep alliance, will combine both Aker Solutions' subsea processing experience and testing facilities with Fjords' topside and onshore separation technologies to provide complete solutions.

Rune Fantoft, Chief Executive Officer of Fjords Processing, said: "This is a great opportunity to further develop our key technologies with one of our most important partners, Aker Solutions.

"Developing our competence in a joint initiative will enable us to increase our focus on produced water and separation technology."

As a leading provider of subsea production systems, Aker Solutions has a strong base of subsea processing technology and competence, including projects such as the Åsgard subsea compression development.

Previously operating under the name Aker Process Systems, Fjords Processing recently strengthened its position by acquiring the separation specialist companies Opus Maxim Ltd and Separation Specialists Inc. Fjords Processing have achieved good results in recent tests with their advanced technologies in produced water treatment and electrostatic coalescence, as well as fully refurbishing its gravity separator technologies.

The alliance will have a dedicated team from both companies. Aker Solutions will serve the subsea market while Fjords Processing focuses on the topside segment.
