GRAHAM Delivers New £81m Salford University Campus

GRAHAM Construction has delivered a new £81 million campus for the University of Salford.

The Peel Park Campus, designed by architects Sheppard Robson, was handed over by the company on 10 September.

The development includes almost 1,400 individual bedrooms comprising of nine residential blocks on two separate sites.

Also provided is teaching accommodation, a cinema, a gym, an energy centre, laundrette and conference facilities.

Approximately 60,000 tonnes of soil was removed from the site during the 90-week build scheme.

Around 2,136 tonnes of steel was needed for the projects nine buildings along with 52,500 sheets of plaster board to complete the site and 19,000m₃ of concrete.

A consortium between GRAHAM Investment Projects, Equitix, Kier Project Investments and Campus Living Villages will operate and manage the campus on behalf of the university.

In addition, the development has achieved a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating due to a mix of sustainable materials and technologies, including solar shading and heat recovery.

The campus was officially opened at a ceremony on 06 October.

Stephen Talboys, director of estates and property services at the University of Salford, said: "GRAHAM has delivered a remarkable product which will transform the experience of our students. The site itself, linked by landscaped gardens, courtyards and podium decks, looks stunning and is exactly what we dreamed of at the start of the project."
