Plans have been approved for the second phase of the £700 million Middlewood Locks scheme in Salford.
The development is a joint venture (JV) called FairBriar International between Scarborough, Hualing Group, and Metro Holdings. Construction work is being carried out by Beijing Construction and Engineering Group (BCEG).
Proposals for the first phase of 571 homes and associated commercial space was granted in December 2015.
Now, the next phase of the urban regeneration scheme will see four separate buildings of up to 10-storeys built, featuring 546 apartments. The scheme was designed by WCEC Architects.
Once completed, Middlewood Locks will feature a mix of around 2,500 homes alongside offices, shops, restaurants and a hotel.
Lowson, Regional Director at WCEC, welcomed the plans for the second phase had been secured.
"Our team has worked tirelessly to maintain the high standard of design they achieved on phase one, which is currently being realised on site.
"We are immensely proud as a practice to be part of Middlewood's continuing story."
Enabling work on the first phase started in April, with a view to first residents moving in from late 2018.
