Work Continues On Volt Circuits Upgrade In Liverpool

Construction News Image
SP Energy Networks is continuing work on a power cable upgrade project in Liverpool.

The scheme involves renewing six existing 33,000 volt circuits that support Liverpool City Centre, reinforcing the security of electricity supplies for local homes and businesses.

Engineers have been working in the area since 23 July, with around nine weeks of work planned between Upper Stanhope Street to Grafton Street.

To continue the scheme, the outside lane of the waterfront bound carriageway on Parliament Street has been shut from its junction of Park Road to Grafton Street, for the next six weeks.

The second phase of works will start at the beginning of October and continue for around 14 weeks from Grafton Street to bottom of Stanhope Street.

Andrew Lloyd, SP Energy Networks' District General Manager for Liverpool, said: "We are investing significantly across Liverpool, to ensure the city's electricity infrastructure continues to be amongst the most reliable anywhere in the UK.

"Working with our contractors, we will do everything possible to keep inconvenience to a minimum. We have spoken to local businesses, and will ensure that any traffic management measures are well advertised."
