AlphaGeo has introduced BricsCAD BIM V18, the world's most versatile design-centric BIM workflow.
Bricsys is a Belgium company that offers a real alternative to AutoCAD with their software BricsCAD. It has 100% dwg compatibility with more functionality for Engineering, Architecture and BIM, at a fraction of the price. Many CAD users have found the AutoCAD product mix confusing and expensive, with software only available on subscription. BricsCAD has a smaller footprint, faster performance, native LISP support, perpetual licensing and a very affordable price, with BricsCAD BIM at around £1,600. BricsCAD V18 is a general design, BIM, and mechanical CAD solution, combining a full IFC-level BIM solution with available Sheet Metal module, and is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
BricsCAD BIM provides advanced solid modelling in a user friendly, streamlined interface. New modelling tools such as BIM Drag let users quickly work with solids and groups of solids for easy modelling operations. BricsCAD BIM also adds a new 'machine intelligence' with BIMIFY, where classification of elements occurs semi-automatically, into categories: core, architectural, structural, and building services.
BricsCAD Shape is a free, new 3D conceptual modelling tool for architects and engineers. The dwg native software is a design front-end to BricsCAD BIM, creating a seamless 'Bricsys BIM workflow'. It streamlines schematic design and presentation work and offers a simplified user-experience and user-interface; it will immediately feel familiar to SketchUp users. However, unlike the competition, Shape is a solid-modeller where models are always accurate, never approximated. Shape features the same parametric, direct-modelling 3D engine that drives BricsCAD Platinum. Shape can be learned in 30 minutes or less, with 21 video tutorials on YouTube that show specific tasks.
