Mears Group's housebuilding business has secured an award for its projects in Hertfordshire.

The company, Mears New Homes, won the the LABC National Award for Best High Volume Housing Development. This was in recognition of the Garden Avenue and Furzen Avenue projects, which saw the developer regenerate a brownfield and vacant garage site into 22 apartments for affordable rent.

The awards celebrate achievements in the construction industry, rewarding excellent buildings, outstanding companies, and partnerships and individuals that go that extra mile.

In the Garden Avenue and Furzen Avenue scheme, Mears New Homes used a range of methods to reduce energy consumption and fuel poverty, as well as being sympathetic to local residents who were consulted throughout the process.

Managing Director Tim Carpenter commented: "I am really proud of the team for this recognition – it goes to show that investing in quality will always win out. Mears New Homes was established only five years ago and now we are a recognised player in the field with a strong portfolio across the UK. I'm really proud of the team’s success and I know that the quality they will produce will only see us grow.

"Mears New Homes has also been shortlisted for the Inside Housing Development Award for the Best Development category, alongside our partners Watford Community Housing Trust.

"Despite a difficult time for the industry it goes to show that a focus on quality will always come out on top."
