Kier has successfully handed over state-of-the-art leisure facilities to the Royal Automobile Club at Woodcote Park in Surrey.
The new two-storey 914m2 building features a children's swimming pool and toddler pool as well as changing facilities, a soft play area, junior lounge and café with an outdoor terrace.
Surrounding the new building, Kier has installed two Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs), a splash play area with fountains and two playgrounds. It has also restored a historic building, the Gardener's Cottage, which is now fit for modern day use as a crèche and activity centre.
Work began in March 2019 and over the course of the project, Kier diverted 97.99% of waste from landfill and worked with social enterprise company, Community Wood Recycling to repurpose waste timber from the site.
Louisa Finlay, managing director of Regional Building Southern, states: "We are incredibly proud to hand over these first-class new leisure facilities to the Royal Automobile Club. All aspects of the building have been carefully designed to meet the needs of the Club's families, from the glass fronted building allowing ample natural light into the pool area, to spacious changing facilities and MUGAs which cater for a range of sports.
"Over the duration of this build, we have also been able to divert waste from landfill, which supports our purpose to sustainably deliver new projects for our clients."
"This construction project has transformed Woodcote Park to become truly family friendly," explained Miles Wade, the Secretary of the Royal Automobile Club. "The high quality and imaginative facilities constructed in partnership with Kier means that there is now something for every Club member to enjoy at Woodcote Park, whatever their age or the ages of their children."
