The Chief Executive Officer of Keir has been appointed non-executive chairman on the Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall (EKFB) JV board, which is responsible for delivering 80km of the new high speed railway, HS2.
Andrew Davies takes over the role from Eiffage's Chief Executive of Infrastructure in the UK, Olivier de Guinaumont, who has served his tenure as chairman.
HS2 is the largest infrastructure project in Europe and Andrew will oversee activities for the JV, which spans from the Chiltern Tunnel to Long Itchington Wood. The EKFB JV is responsible for one the longest sections of Phase 1, with the construction of 15 viaducts, 81 bridges and 6.9km of green tunnels all part of the scope of works. The JV also recently celebrated a mammoth earthworks milestone as it moved an unprecedented 15 million cubic metres of earth in record time, believed to be a UK first.
EKFB is also providing extensive employment opportunities, with one of its subcontractors recently opening a training centre at its site near Westbury, as well as 150 apprenticeships and 960 work placements being provided over the project delivery.
Mr Davies commented: "I am delighted to be taking on the role as non-executive chairman of the EKFB JV board to support the delivery of Europe’s largest infrastructure project.
"This JV brings together four companies with immense depth of skill and talent and collectively we have a common endeavour to construct this section of HS2 and enable greater connectivity across the UK.
"I would also like to thank Olivier for his valuable contribution over the last few years."
