Following the discovery of a failed roof, PermaRoof Commercial's team was brought on board by G J Smith Roofing to support the rectification project.
The owner of a large, detached residential property in South Beaconsfield contacted G J Smith Roofing after the discovery of a leak from their roof. On inspection, Permaroof found that this was due to condensation and rot, which had built up as an appropriate AVCL membrane hadn’t been included in the initial installation. This layer prevents warm water migrating to colder outer surfaces where it condenses into water droplets, causing water ingress issues.
In the case of this building, the roof had deteriorated and started to fail, and the owners wanted a suitable solution that gave them peace of mind for the future.
The solution:
As reassurance over the longevity of the roof was imperative, the team at PermaRoof Commercial was enlisted to support as their products have full warranty guaranteed.
Having assessed the roof, PermaRoof recommended that the current waterproof layer and substrate was removed and replaced with the addition of an AVCL layer to protect against water damage. The products specified by the team included 250m2 of Firestone RubberGard EPDM with HD coverboard, insulation and AVCL.
Throughout the process, PermaRoof's team was on hand to provide full technical support for the installation of the products to ensure they were installed to the manufacturer's recommendations in order to maintain the 20-year warranty, which was of high importance to the client.
The testimonial
Gary Smith, managing director of G J Smith Roofing, said: "When we first approached PermaRoof Commercial we found that it stood out against other competitors. At a time when material and product costs were soaring, due to the impacts of covid, Brexit and other factors, we expected the same to be the case for PermaRoof Commercial’s quote. However, we were pleasantly surprised that the price was very competitive for the quality of products recommended.
"Additionally, the team’s expertise was a huge selling point to us as we felt we were getting trustworthy advice from experienced individuals. This was particularly important for this project as the warranty obtained following correct installation was key for our clients.
"Once we got started on the project it was a true asset to have the team to support with any queries we had and offer their advice at every stage. Having an expert actually on site makes all the difference and we achieved a great outcome for the client. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the PermaRoof Commercial team for any project."
Sunny Lotay, national commercial manager at PermaRoof Commercial, said: "Finding the right solution for our clients and customers is always what we strive to do. On this project, we found working with the team at G J Smith Roofing a great experience and were eager to support with ensuring the warranty was achievable and the right solution to prevent further issues.
"Overall, it was a great result and we look forward to hopefully working alongside the team again in the future."
