Capja Celebrates 5 Years Of Innovation In Construction Tech

Construction News Image
Brighton-based tech company, Capja, has reached a major milestone – their fifth anniversary. In these five years, they've not just grown; they've led the way in the plant-hire and lifting sectors of the construction industry. Starting with a vision to simplify software in a complex field, Capja has more than delivered – they’ve been a force of change.

From a small startup to an industry innovator, Capja has bagged five important grants along this journey. Each grant is a nod to their commitment to bringing new tech to construction. But it's more than just staying in the game for five years; it's about making a real difference and innovating every day.

Looking back on the journey, Josh Wallman, Co-Founder of Capja, said: "Reaching five years is a big deal for us. We started with a simple aim: to make heavy machinery management easier and more intuitive. CapjaDocs, our main project, is our way of sticking to that promise. It's not just a piece of software; it's our dedication to more sustainable, smarter construction practices. This anniversary is as much about looking forward as it is about reflecting on our past – we're excited about the possibilities that AI and Machine Learning hold for us."

The second year of Capja, marked by the onset of COVID, was a turning point. It was then that Capja pivoted and focused on innovation. They applied for a ‘Fast Start’ grant from Innovate UK, to evolve their QR product to something new. Construction sites are often areas that attract a lot of paperwork, and this is where Capja’s solution solved a key challenge. CapjaDocs helped reduce the reliance on paperwork at construction sites, thus aiding the environment and enhancing operational efficiency.

Over the years, Capja have also supported innovations which have been implemented into their customers’ business models, meaning they have not just delivered groundbreaking tech, but assisted companies for investment with the likes of I-Construct and TALE.

One customer, Kieran McGovern, explained: "The impact of CapjaDocs on our business has been substantial. By using secure QR codes on our ID cards, we’ve managed to offer immediate access to essential documents while maintaining the utmost security. It’s a game-changer for the crane hire industry."

In their fourth year, CapjaDocs was recognised through the LoCASE grant, which affirmed the product’s positive environmental impact. Also in the fourth year, Capja began a fruitful partnership with NOSY Creative Agency. NOSY's creative expertise and technological know-how resonated with Capja's ethos. Together, they've created not just a website, but a digital narrative that supports Capja’s growth, reinforced by a fresh brand identity and a collaborative promotional video with Island Crane Hire.

Matt Greg, Founder of NOSY Creative Agency, reflected on the project: "Working with Capja has been one of the highlights this year. Their commitment to sustainable technology fits hand-in-glove with our creative philosophy. This wasn't just about building a website or a brand; it was about capturing the essence of a company that's quietly revolutionising the tech side of construction. We're proud to have played a role in sharing their story and supporting their journey into new territories of innovation."

As Capja steps into the next chapter, backed by a new Innovate UK award to explore AI and Machine Learning, they're not just celebrating the past. They're gearing up for a future filled with more innovations, ready to keep shaping the world of construction tech.
