Construction firm GRAHAM has completed the interior fit-out of Primark's newly refurbished store at Westfield Stratford City Shopping Centre.
The project, delivered by GRAHAM's Interior Fit-Out division, marks a significant milestone for Primark's ongoing expansion and enhances the shopping experience for customers in East London.
The new Primark store now spans over 82,000 square feet across four trading floors, representing a substantial expansion from its previous size of 45,000 square feet. This transformation positions the store as one of Primark's largest in the UK and the second largest in London, offering customers an unparalleled shopping experience with an expanded range of products and amenities.
Throughout the project, GRAHAM's Interior Fit-Out team undertook structural alterations to accommodate new customer lift penetrations and escalator installations. Meticulous refitting of existing store spaces was completed in line with architectural and engineering specifications, seamlessly integrating them with the extended areas. Additionally, the installation of new features such as shop fronts, external and internal signage, back-of-house furniture, and escalator bulkheads has enhanced the store's visual identity and accessibility. GRAHAM's implementation of state-of-the-art mechanical, electrical, and sprinkler systems further contributes to the store's functionality and safety. Close collaboration with various stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and service consultants, ensured alignment throughout the project timeline.
Terry Logan, GRAHAM Interior Fit-Out Contracts Director, said: "Out of the 2 million plus square feet of retail space delivered to Primark by the GRAHAM Interior Fit-Out team over the past decade, the store at Westfield Stratford Shopping Centre stands out as one of the most demanding and rewarding endeavours. Despite the complexities of executing major structural works within one of the busiest retail environments, the project was seamlessly carried out by the project team while the store remained operational. I commend our project team who worked tirelessly to ensure minimal disruption to shoppers."
