McGoff Construction has been appointed as principal contractor at a new mixed-used development on Canterbury Road in Herne Bay.
With overall control of the construction phase of this £21 million project, McGoff Construction will be responsible for the build of a 'new generation' 67 bed care facility for New Care, as well as the delivery of 49 stylish new build bungalows for Villafont Concierge. Both New Care and Villafont are part of the McGoff Group, specialising in the provision of state-of-the-art care facilities and luxury residential developments respectively.
McGoff Construction will commence laying the foundations for the care home imminently, and having retained part of the existing structure, will restore the façade, bringing an historic part of Herne Bay back to life. Practical completion of the care home is scheduled for August 2025.
Build of the stylish one and two bedroom bungalows will also start immediately, with the residential development to be known as Herne Bay Gardens. Practical completion planned for September 2025.
With enquiries already being received for the bungalows, the sales launch, which will be overseen by Downtown Asset Management, the Group's property management arm of the business, in partnership with local agent Miles & Barr, is expected in the coming months.
With vast experience delivering multi-million pound residential schemes across the UK, having worked on several high profile projects in the South including The Castle Hotel at Legoland Windsor Resort (Merlin Entertainments) and Butlin's in Minehead, and having built approximately 13 care homes for Barchester Healthcare in the region, McGoff Construction, also part of the McGoff Group, was the natural choice for principal contractor.
Working with its sister companies, including Panacea Building Systems who will deliver offsite, lightweight steel frame solutions for the development, along with integrated roofing and bespoke drylining installations, as well as McGoff Group Facilities Services, who are complete FM, fitout and passive fire specialists, and EdenCroft Building Services, who will provide all M&E services.
Dean Johnston, Group Managing Director at McGoff Construction Services, said: "We are well aware that this particular site has a rich history and has very much been a central part of Herne Bay. As such, we are absolutely committed to delivering a stunning mixed-used development that locals will be proud of and will continue to play an integral part of the community.
"McGoff Construction specialises in the delivery of care facilities, having delivered over 2,000 beds to date. Our reputation in delivering residential developments is superb too, from bespoke mansions and luxury homes to large city centre apartment schemes and specialist retirement living communities.
"With the unique ability to deliver the vast majority of the construction phase in-house, rather than outsource, McGoff Construction is very much a development-led contractor, and our self-delivery capabilities will be evident throughout the build programme in Herne Bay."
