Recent legislation has heralded a fresh era in the energy efficiency of new houses, with all new build homes required to be carbon zero by 2016. The 2007 Budget also announced that newly-built carbon neutral homes, such as Passive Houses (worth under £500,000) will be exempt from stamp duty, providing a further incentive for developers.
