Glasgow organisation, McKean Group Limited, is celebrating after one of its construction companies, Mayfield Construction, scooped three titles at the annual British Association of Landscape Industry (BALI) Awards.
At a prestigious award ceremony held in London's Park Lane Hilton Hotel, hosted by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, awards for the Best Mainly Hardlandscaping Scheme, Best Employer and Use of Recycled Materials were presented to Mayfield Construction, a division of the McKean Group.
The Best, Mainly Hardlandscaping and Use of Recycled Materials award was presented for Mayfield's ongoing £6m project for St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council.
The project, which is almost complete, will provide a new look town centre to compete with other local shopping centres. It focuses on enhancing the environment of the core town centre through a series of contemporary, forward looking improvements to the streetscape and the public realm.
David Noar, Director of McKean group, said: "These awards demonstrate our innovation and dynamism as a company and reflect the importance we place on the development of our workforce.
"The St Helens project is a leading regeneration initiative and similar to work we are currently undertaking in Renfrew Town Centre, where we are aiming to reinvigorate the area by making it a more pleasant place to live, work and shop.
"Staff are at the forefront of our business and it is very satisfying to be rewarded for our career development schemes.
The project, a partnership programme involving early consultation with the council before construction and which is on time and under-budget, includes a new suite of modern street furniture and pedestrian signage, art work at 'gateway' points and new high-level street lighting with feature lighting to buildings.
The firm was rewarded for its use of existing materials and minimising landfill use on the St Helens project, winning the Use of Recycled Materials category, and also collected Best Employer award, which is given to a company that demonstrates a pro-active and innovative approach to skills development and fosters career progression.
The BALI Awards have been running since 1976 and showcase the highest levels of skill and professionalism in the industry.
