Engineers have been working over-time since October to replace the existing overhead lights on the link roads that connect the M56 at Junction 9 with the M6 at Junction 20 and the A50.
The £2.3m upgrade will completely replace the existing ageing lighting system, improving visibility for motorists and making it safer on the slip roads and junctions.
In this final phase work will continue overnight during the week but additional work will also be carried out over eight separate weekends, involving the complete closures of the M6-M56 link roads between 10pm on Friday and 5am on Monday. Dates for the planned weekend closures after January 19-20 will be advertised nearer the time.

John Mather, Highways Agency project manager, said: "We have been working very hard over the recent weeks and months to upgrade this section of the motorway. The project will bring the lighting on the link roads up to the current standard and improve visibility for drivers.
"The current work will continue overnight but we will need to carry out some of the work over eight weekends so that motorists' week day routines are not affected. We ask for people travelling on the weekends affected to be patient and pay attention to diversion signs."
