An international construction and management company, Turner & Townsend plc, has appointed Gordon Horsfield as its first Non-Executive Director.

This appointment is the next step in the company's commitment to list on the London Stock Exchange.

Gordon Horsfield spent the principal part of his career at Price Waterhouse where he became Head of the UK Corporate Finance and Recovery division.

Following the merger with Coopers and Lybrand in 1998, he was appointed Director of Operations of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

After leaving PwC at the end of 2002, he was subsequently appointed Executive Chairman of what was to become Drax Group plc, the Yorkshire-based power generator, leading it to a successful listing on the London Stock Exchange in 2005. He became a Non-Executive Chairman of Drax Group in early 2006, a position he held until he stepped down in April 2008.

Commenting on his appointment Gordon Horsfield said: "I have found the vision, drive and enthusiasm of the team at Turner & Townsend stimulating. I very much look forward to working with the Board as the business continues to develop its global footprint."

Tim Wray, Chairman of Turner & Townsend, added: "I am delighted that Gordon has agreed to serve as a Non-Executive Director of Turner & Townsend. His wide-ranging experience will be invaluable to the group in its commitment to list on the London Stock Exchange."
