High performance timber windows and doors from Mumford & Wood's Contemporary range have been specified for a new build development of luxury apartments in Kent. Situated on high ground on a popular golf and country club overlooking the Kentish Weald countryside, the apartments offer four-star accommodation with the enviable backdrop of the Chart Hills and Medway Valley.
This historic estate, which dates to 1390, has seen many changes and has been greatly extended in different styles over the last two centuries. From the most recent Victorian and Edwardian phases, elegant apartments have been created retaining many of the original features of the grand Georgian house including fireplaces and surrounds, decorative period cornices and stonework. Some of the original single glazed sash windows have been restored and renovated and where replacements were necessary, Mumford & Wood's bespoke, energy rated, double glazed and corded Conservation timber sliding sash windows were specified. Conservation products are BFRC energy rated.
In the new north-east wing extension, which accommodates four fabulous, high-specification and individually designed apartments, Mumford & Wood's Contemporary windows and doors provide easy access to unique views over the fairways and countryside, and introduce dramatic light to the spacious and lofty rooms.
These bespoke timber casement windows and doors are made from high quality laminated and clear graded Larch which is naturally durable and provides strength and stability. Factory fitted double glazing using low 'E' glass as standard, together with high quality weatherseals, ensure all Contemporary products are fully compliant with Part L Building Regulations and achieve an excellent degree of weather resistance, perfectly suited to this exposed location.
In this project Contemporary products were supplied fully factory finished with three coats of white, water-based, microporous paint, they can be supplied in a range of RAL colours, stained or tilt turn windows can be supplied with aluminium cladding. The tilt turn windows conform to the European burglary resistant standard DIN V ENV 1627-1630.
